It’s now less than two months until thousands of athletes, coaches, officials and supporters descend on Waterloo Region.

The 50-day countdown to the 2026 Ontario Summer Games is underway, and organizers are looking to bolster the ranks of volunteers; it’s going to take a village.

Organizers are looking to fill all kinds of positions in various roles throughout the games.

They include guest services, programming support, event operations, logistics, information services and more. No experience is necessary. The positions have been designed for individuals of any background, age or experience level.

“Volunteers will be the backbone of the Waterloo Region 2026 Ontario Summer Games,” said Cameron Tai, Volunteer Services Chair, in a press release. “The response from our community to date has been incredible, and we’re excited to build on that momentum to ensure every athlete and visitor has an exceptional experience in Waterloo Region.”

Organizers are putting out the call to high school students, saying this is a great chance to get your volunteer hours.

Times are flexible, and there is no minimum time requirement. However, the greater the availability, the broader the range of opportunities there will be.

Local organizations, businesses and community groups are encouraged to share these volunteer opportunities with their members.

Those interested can apply here.

The Waterloo Region 2026 Ontario Summer Games run from July 30 to Aug. 2.
