Police in Guelph said an American woman is facing charges for a string of assaults and conflicts in and around city parks.

Between May 25th and this past Sunday, Guelph police got calls from ten different witnesses about a woman approaching people without provocation and shoving them or stomping on their feet.

Police said the youngest victim is 12, and the oldest is 73. Officials said there were at least two occasions when she had a hammer and chased people.

And two victims told police that their vehicle was damaged in an incident.

Officers found the woman Wednesday while investigating a different call, and police say she threw a shirt at one of the officers and tried to punch them.

A 28-year-old from Connecticut is now facing 13 charges, including:

  • Three counts of assault with a weapon
  • Five counts of assault
  • Two counts of carrying a concealed weapon
  • Assaulting a police officer
  • Possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and
  • Mischief under $5,000.

Police said she was in Guelph to visit family and had arrived two days before the first incident.
