The KW Titans’ reign of dominance has come to an end, as the Windsor Express snapped the team’s six-game winning streak in game two of the Super League playoff first round.
The Express controlled the game from the first quarter outscoring the Titans 34-25. Windsor never relinquished the lead, ending with a 109-99 victory.
The win ties the series at one win a piece, with the Titans splitting their opening home-stand.
The loss was statistically improbable for the Titans, as it snaps a 12-game streak of 100 point performances dating back to Feb. 22, and a six-game streak of holding their opponent under 100 points.
The Express in particular have proved a tough matchup for the Titans’ offense. Since the Titans’ 127-85 victory in their season opener, they have not scored more than 108 points against Windsor. That seven-game stretch in the season series falls well below the Titans’ season scoring average.
The Titans will need to overcome the offensive shortcomings in order to win outside their building, with Windsor hosting game three and four back-to-back on home court. Those two contests will take place on Thursday, Apr. 9 and Saturday, Apr. 11 respectively.
If the Titans can pick up a win in at least one of those games, they would host game five at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in the series-deciding game.
