Third suspect arrested in late April Waterloo shooting

A third suspect is now facing charges in connection with a shooting incident in the university district of Waterloo, in which no injuries were reported.

It was back on the early morning of April 25 when police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of University Avenue East and Weber Street North.

No physical injuries were reported as a result of that shooting in Waterloo, though investigators believe the incident was targeted in nature.

Responding officers located and arrested two suspects, identified then as a 15-year-old male and a 25-year-old man. Those two suspects were charged with weapon-related offences.

Providing an update on Thursday, police said a 24-year-old Kitchener man has also been arrested on a warrant.

That man faces a list of charges, including:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Reckless discharge of firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Uttering threats to cause death
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Disobey court order
  • Fail to comply with undertaking

That accused was held for a bail hearing.
