Stolen vehicle, loaded firearm recovered during arrest of two

Regional police have arrested two men after locating a stolen vehicle and a loaded firearm in Waterloo.

The stolen vehicle was located Saturday night in the area of King St and Erb St at roughly 10:15 p.m.

There were no occupants in the vehicle, so an investigation was opened. Police say two suspects were found a short distance away.

Also found were a loaded firearm and ammunition.

A 19-year-old Brampton man and a 25-year-old Toronto man were both arrested and face a list of charges.

Those charges include:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000;
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm;
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition;
  • Careless storage of firearm;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
  • Possession of automobile master key 

Both men were held for a bail hearing.
