Gas station targeted in Waterloo armed robbery

Waterloo regional police have laid charges against a Waterloo man as part of an investigation into an armed robbery in the city.

It was around 2 p.m. Wednesday when officers were called to an armed robbery at a gas station near the Glen Forrest Boulevard and Weber Street North part of Waterloo.

Police said that a man entered the business, pulled out a firearm and demanded cash before fleeing the store in a vehicle that was waiting outside.

No one was physically harmed during the incident.

Just over an hour later at 3:30 p.m., police managed to locate a suspect at a nearby residence, placing him under arrest.

Officials also executed a search warrant of the home and located a black BB gun, as well as the cash that the suspect allegedly stole during the incident.

A 30-year-old Waterloo man now faces charges of robbery with a firearm and utter threats.
