For three years, the bright orange Every Child Matters Grand River Transit (GRT) bus has been driving around Waterloo Region.
The design is the work of local indigenous artists recognizing National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Sept. 30) and Indigenous History Month (June).
It was first introduced back in September 2023.
This year, the selected artwork will not only be on a GRT bus but also on four Regional ambulances, external posters, interior bus cards, the Reconciliation Action Partnership’s website, and regional and municipal social media platforms.
It will stay up for the full year, with the artist in question to be paid just over $5,700.
Applications for the 2026/2027 design are now open until the end of March.
The chosen artist will be announced May 13.
