Queen Elizabeth PS set to reopen Thursday after water supply issue

Queen Elizabeth Public School in Kitchener closed its doors on Wednesday afternoon due to a water issue.

The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) says the water supply to the school on Hoffman Street was shut off.

In an email, a spokesperson with the City of Kitchener said Kitchener Utilities workers needed to “perform an emergency water shut off” over the lunch hour on Wednesday.

It prompted the school building to close until the issue was resolved. Before and after-school programs were also cancelled.

Kitchener Utilities’ website showed a water main break at 178 Hoffman Street, resulting in a closure between Kehl Street and Southdale Avenue.

The school board later confirmed the issue was related to a burst water pipe, located off school property.

Queen Elizabeth PS will reopen Thursday, including Before and after-school programs.
