Police make arrest in Cambridge house fire investigation

Waterloo regional police have located and arrested a suspect believed to be involved in a Cambridge house fire in early July.

In a release, police said 29-year-old Andrew Reis was arrested on July 29 and is now facing multiple charges that include arson with disregard for human life, mischief over $5,000, assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.

The fire occurred on July 3 around 9 p.m. at a home in the Malcolm Street and Roseview Avenue area of Cambridge.

No one was hurt in the fire and the Cambridge Fire Department were able to extinguished the blaze. However, the house was significantly damaged.

Reis is being held for a bail hearing.

The same house was hit by gunfire on June 8, when someone allegedly fired shots into the house and ran off on foot.
