
Regional police are now searching for a male suspect after an alleged robbery involving a large knife in Kitchener.
It was around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday when police responded to a call, bringing officers to the area of Belmont Avenue West and Glasgow Street.
Police said that a male suspect had entered the store equipped with a face mask and wielding a large knife, demanding money from an employee behind the counter.
When the suspect received what they were looking for, they fled the area on a bicycle.
The victim in the exchange was not injured.
Police are now looking for a suspect described as a white man between the ages of 40 and 50 years old, roughly 5’7″ tall with a slim build.
Surveillance photos and a video show a man wearing a blue coat, a black hooded sweatshirt, a black toque and light blue jeans. He was also wearing a black ski mask, brown gloves and black high-top shoes.
The investigation is being carried out by the service’s Break and Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery Unit.
