Optic Texas wins 2025 Call of Duty League Championships in Kitchener

After four days of intense competition, a champion has been crowded in the country’s largest Call of Duty tournament in Kitchener.

Optic Texas, the e-sports team based out of Dallas, Texas defeated the Vancouver Surge 5-3 in a best of nine matchup to win their consecutive Call of Duty League Championship on Sunday at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.

Gamers from all over the world flocked to Waterloo Region for the four-day tournament, which saw the eight top teams in the world compete for a $2 million USD (approximately $2,733,000 CAD) prize.

The other teams that competed included the Atlanta Faze, Los Angeles Thieves, Miami Heretics, Carolina Royal Ravens, Boston Breach, and Toronto Ultra.

Optic Texas waltzed their way to the final, defeating all three teams they faced in the winners bracket, including Atlanta Faze, Toronto Ultra and Boston Breach, without losing a single game.

Vancouver Surge started off the tournament losing their matchup to the Miami Heretic on Thursday and battled their way through the elimination rounds to get to the finals. Between Friday and Saturday, they defeated the LA Thieves, Toronto Ultra, Miami Heretics in a rematch and Boston Breach in the elimination finals.

Another 16 teams competed in the Call of Duty Challengers League, with Omit coming out on top.

According to ESPORTS Charts, Sunday’s matchup saw 353,525 overall peak viewers online, a new Call of Duty League record.
