Regional police responded to two collisions on Tuesday morning after the townships were hit with messy weather the night before.

According to a press release, officers are investigating a serious crash in North Dumfries, where a man was sent to hospital.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Trussler and Gladstone roads. Police said a Volkswagen and a Chevrolet collided, leaving the 22-year-old driver of the Volkswagen with serious injuries.

The 49-year-old Chevrolet driver was not injured.

The area was closed for several hours for the investigation. Officials said they believe charges will be laid in the case.

Then, at 9:00 a.m., police were called to Floradale Road in Elmira for a single-vehicle crash.

Officials told CityNews in an email that the vehicle slid off the road into the ditch, striking a hydro pole. They were not injured.

Police said that poor weather and road conditions are believed to be a factor in the incident.
