A Kitchener resident is facing multiple charges after allegedly misusing 911 and then threatening the officers who came out to see her.

A release from the Waterloo Regional Police Service said it all began around 3:00 a.m. Tuesday with calls coming in from the Old Chicopee Drive and Holborn Drive area.

Police said a 55-year-old woman called 911 saying she had been assaulted in a shopping mall, but police determined her allegations were unfounded.

Police said she kept on calling 911 “with the intent of tying up emergency resources.”

Officers went out to her home a few times, and warned her she could be charged for misuse emergency services.

In the final visit, the female allegedly came out of her residence with two edged weapons and threatened the officers there.

She was arrested without incident.

Police said she’s facing multiple criminal charges, including public mischief.
