It’s a scorching beginning of the week across Waterloo Region, with Environment Canada issuing a heat warning.
Temperature highs for Sunday are expected to climb to 33 C, with a humidex making it feel like 44 C.
Carl Lam, 570’s meteorologist, said the heat warning is expected to last through Monday and Tuesday.
“We’ll finally start to catch a break on Wednesday as temperatures get back to the mid to upper 20’s,” he said.
The temperature record for the day was set in 1923 where temperatures peaked at 32.8 C. Lam says that record could be broken Sunday, with expected highs of 33 C.
With temperatures like this, Environment Canada is reminding everyone to be safe.
Precautions include drinking water often, limiting exposure to the sun and heat, keeping an eye out for pets, and watching for heat stroke symptoms. Those symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, and intense fatigue.
