A poor piece of driving in the Royal City on Monday led to more than $150,000 in damage and charges.
According to Guelph police, the incident happened at the intersection of Laird Road and Southgate Drive in the south end of the municipality.
The driver reportedly lost control of his SUV while making a turn, left the roadway and ran over some grass before returning to the road and crashing into two other SUVs.
Then, he continued across the road and crashed his vehicle into the trailer of a transport truck, striking it with enough force to break the truck’s rear axle, police said.
One of the drivers who was a victim of the spree of crashes was taken to hospital with non-serious head and neck injuries.
The driver, a 34-year-old man from Guelph, held only a G1 license, meaning he wasn’t supposed to be driving alone in the first place.
He was charged with dangerous driving.
