A Guelph man is now facing weapon and drug-related charges after being spotted wielding a crossbow by a concerned citizen.
It was just last week when Guelph police say they received security footage of a man spotted carrying a scoped crossbow outside a business in the area of Woolwich Street.
Not only were investigators able to identify the man based on that footage, but they also say he is bound by several court orders prohibiting him from possessing weapons.
Police located that man on Friday outside a business in Guelph’s downtown core, placing him under arrest. Officers said the suspect resisted arrest and tried to run before being handcuffed.
During a search of his person, police also seized an unspecified quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
The crossbow was not recovered by police.
The suspect, a 37-year-old Guelph man, now faces charges including:
- Possessing a weapon contrary to an order (two counts)
- Breaching probation orders (four counts)
- Resisting arrest
- Possessing a controlled substance
That man was held for a bail hearing and has since been released, set to appear in court on July 17.
