Fundraising efforts continue for an Ontario family whose 10-year-old daughter was killed in a crash.
The child, identified in a GoFundMe campaign as Grace, was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Hamilton, Sunday night, that put seven people in hospital.
After the story made headlines, an update sent to 570 NewsRadio from GoFundMe said, “We’ve since learned, through a social media post from the campaign organizer, that the family is based in Binbrook not Cambridge, as initially stated.”
In the original campaign, the organizer, still listed on GoFundMe as Tayllore Sopha from Cambridge, said “Grace just finished grade 5. She will not see her grade 8 graduation, she will not see her high school prom and her mommy will never see her baby again.”
“She had an entire life ahead of her.”
Sopha said Grace was her goddaughter.
Hamilton Police said that of the other four people in Grace’s car, one sustained life-threatening injuries, and another had critical injuries.
Sopha said she’s raising money for the family in part to keep their rent payments up, so they still have a home when they get out of hospital.
And Sopha said the family members “are in for a long road” of therapy and rehabilitation.
