Drivers looking to take the Highway 6 drive between Highway 401 and Hamilton may need to plan an alternate route.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) warn that a five-vehicle crash has closed Highway 6 through Morriston, between Badenoch Street and Leslie Road West, in both directions.

Police say they received the call around 7:30 a.m. for a collision involving two transport trucks and three other vehicles.

Despite the volume of vehicles involved, early reports from the OPP indicate that only one person has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

West Region OPP said on Tuesday morning that they expect Highway 6 to remain closed for “several hours,” with reports that the crash did spill a load of dry concrete onto the roadway.

OPP note that the Ministry of Environment has been notified of the crash.
