The drive around Waterloo Region will hopefully be less bumpy come September, as asphalt repairs ramp up in all seven regional municipalities to close out this month.

Already underway this week, repairs in Wellesley Township until Aug. 22.

Crews have been out on Ament Line, Lobsinger Line, Perth Line, and Cedar Grove Road.

In Woolwich, repairs will be underway on the Woolwich portion of Lobsinger Line until Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Crews will only be active in Wilmot Township for a couple days between Aug. 25-27, primarily focusing on Notre Dame Drive, as well as Erb’s Road between Nafziger Road and Sandhills Road.

For Kitchener-Waterloo commuters, a number of locations will see lane restrictions for around four weeks between Aug. 28 (Thursday) and Sept. 15.

A full map of the locations can be found here.

Some main routes that will be impacted include: Trussler Road between New Dundee Road and Huron Road, Ira Needles Boulevard by Highland Road, Fischer-Hallman Road north of Erb Street, and parts of the Centreville Chicopee neighbourhood in Kitchener.

The last stop for regional asphalt crews is in Cambridge and North Dumfries, with work spanning from Sept. 10-22.

The main areas of focus include Bishop Street between Hespeler Road and Franklin Boulevard, Hespeler at Avenue Road, and along Northumberland Street.

All in all 90 locations will be worked on region-wide.

The work includes removing old asphalt, cleaning the surface, applying tack coat and then laying fresh asphalt and road lines.

The Region of Waterloo said drivers can expect minor delays as the impacted roads won’t be fully closed, and all businesses will stay open.
