As the last week of August nears, the events calendar is filling up in Waterloo Region.

The downtown cores of the Tri-Cities are all hosting major events this weekend, many of which are summer traditions for local families.

The Sun Life Waterloo Busker Carnival runs until Sunday in Uptown Waterloo.

Over the four-day event, 20 entertainers will be in town for a total of 60 shows. The performances are spread out between Waterloo Public Square, Regina Street (between William and Erb) and Waterloo City Hall.

Performances include everything from personalized cartoon portraits, fire gymnastics, comedy, hula hooping, contortionists, and even a big balloon act.

In downtown Kitchener Caribana Ignite brightens up Carl Zehr Square with a Glow Party Friday evening, and the Grand Parade on Saturday morning at 11 a.m.

The parade runs along King Street, starting at Frederick Street and wrapping up at Francis Street North.

The annual event celebrates Caribbean heritage, music, dance, and cuisine, with performances, plenty of food and activities for the whole family.

Attendance is free.

In Cambridge, downtown Galt welcomes Oddfest.

The free event takes over Main Street between Water Street South and Ainslie Street South on Saturday from 1 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Music, artists, games, and a vendors’ market are all part of the free event.

There are plenty of other events for you and the family to check out this weekend including some regular summer go-tos in the Gaslight District which features the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra this Sunday.
