Residents in a sizable swath of Kitchener started their Tuesday morning without power.

It was just after 7 p.m. when Waterloo regional police reported downed hydro lines on Thaler Avenue, closing that roadway between Fairway Road North and Kinzie Avenue.

Police have indicated hydro lines lying across the roadway, while those planning to head through the area were advised to find an alternate route.

Details surrounding that incident are limited, though police say no injuries have been reported.

A spokesperson with the service notes that there doesn’t appear to be any collision reported in that area.

A power outage was later reported in the Centreville area of Kitchener, impacting over 1,000 customers and knocking out traffic lights in the area. That outage has since been cleared.

Hydro crews remain on scene for repairs to those power lines, with roads closed for safety.
