Staff at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum are gearing up for a busy summer, and one that will see the return of a beloved attraction.
Doon Heritage Village is set to celebrate its grand reopening on Canada Day.
That Wednesday will not only feature a big celebration, but also just $2 admission per person. Three years ago, the 1914-focused village closed for major infrastructure improvements.
Museum officials also dove into community feedback to look for ways to improve and enhance the village experience.
The new and improved landmark is said to feature, “expanded storytelling, enhanced accessibility features, a refreshed brand and exciting updates and surprises for visitors.”
“Doon Heritage Village is a beloved landmark in our community, and we cannot wait to welcome residents back,” said Regional Chair Karen Redman.
“As our community changes, so must the services we offer. Doon Heritage Village is a place that reflects the voices of our community, and where everyone can see their history reflected.”
Starting July 1, Doon Heritage Village will be open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., until September 6.
And don’t worry, the farm animals will also be back.
Details on the new “One Village, Many Stories” vision for the village can be found on the Doon Heritage Village website.
A soft opening will be held on June 3.
