Police investigating fatal pedestrian collision in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating after a 23-year-old woman was struck and killed in Waterloo.

According to police, the collision happened around 8:15 Wednesday morning at the intersection of University Avenue East and Marsland Drive.

A box truck hit the 23-year-old, who was transported to a local hospital, but later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the truck, identified as a 54-year-old man was not hurt.

Police have said charges are anticipated.

Regional police closed the intersection of University Avenue East and Marsland Drive for several hours before reopening it around 1 p.m. Wednesday.
