Inpatient services, ambulatory care, and more services to the community: the next ten years of growth at Cambridge Memorial Hospital begins now.
The President and CEO of the hospital speaking to almost every mayor and councillor in Waterloo Region, Friday afternoon.
Patrick Gaskin is making a joint presentation with WRHN on the future of hospital care, at the All Councils meeting in Elmira.
Gaskin tells 570 NewsRadio he wants to celebrate the completion in 2025 of the hospital’s capital redevelopment project, saying “we have essentially a brand new hospital.”
But he adds, “we’re not done.”
Gaskin says he will present to council their future plans for the demolition of wings C and D, the oldest parts of the hospital, and the expansion of services there.
But that will require a Local Share Plan, a requirement of the Ministry of Health, that lays out how the hospital and local governments will cover 25% of all construction and development costs.
Gaskin says “we’re not there yet” when it comes to early costing of their development that far down the line, but it will include inpatient services, ambulatory care, and more services to the community.
Plans also include a parking structure at the hospital, not just a parking lot.
Gaskin says, “10 years out, I would see redevelopment at Cambridge Memorial essential as we continue to grow with the community.”
The All Councils meeting begins at 2:00 in the Township of Woolwich council chambers.
