A new major complex awaits review by Cambridge City Council, as it proposes the creation of 10 new townhouse buildings on the city’s east end.

The development, by Powerplay Equity Capital Inc. and Treasure Hill Home Corp., would see 132 new residential units built, located on either side of Attwater Drive at the intersection of Dundas Street South. It would be accompanied by 165 parking spots, 33 of which would be designated for visitors.

The new three-story buildings would sit right next to another one of the developer’s complexes, known as ‘The Marquis Series at Hazel Glenn.’

Before the plans can be approved and shovels can enter the ground, the developers must first receive bylaw exemptions from the City of Cambridge. The reason is that the development’s dimensions would violate current zoning bylaws, particularly in the site’s side and rear yards.

To be approved, the complex needs to get designation as a Residential Three (R3) zone, which would give it the provisions it needs to ignore existing by-laws.

Council will have a public meeting to consider the plan on June 16 at 6:30 p.m. at city hall. The final decision on the zoning application will be voted upon at the council’s July 21 meeting.
