Police in Brantford have laid charges after shutting down an illegal magic mushroom dispensary in that city.
The name might be familiar to people in Waterloo Region, FunGuyz had previously operated psilocybin dispensaries in Kitchener and Cambridge. Regional police raided both locations multiple times before they were permanently shuttered late last year.
Brantford police had thought they had put the problem behind them when they previously closed the location on Murray Street. A tip from the public alerted them to the store’s reopening.
A search warrant was executed on Tuesday, July 2.
Police seized 2,596.5 grams of psilocybin with an estimated street value of $29,674.
A 28-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule III.
