Arrest made after hate incident, sexual assault at Conestoga Mall

A 25-year-old man is facing charges following a reported hate-motivated incident at Conestoga Mall in Waterloo.

It was around 2:40 p.m. on Monday when Waterloo regional police were called to mall on King Street North for reports of an indecent act.

Police said their initial investigation determined that a male suspect had exposed himself to a victim while uttering racial slurs. That man then sexually assaulted the victim.

No identifying information has been released regarding the victim, though police have indicated that they did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of the incident.

A 25-year-old man was arrested by police and has since been charged with both indecent act and sexual assault.
