One youth is facing charges related to the possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation materials.

In March, the RCMP Community Action Response Team says it was notified about a youth who was active on several online forums associated with violent and harmful content.

On April 15, members of various RCMP divisions and Halifax Regional Police Digital Forensic Services executed a search warrant at a residence in Kinsac, just outside of Halifax.

At the time of the search, one youth was safely placed under arrest, and several electronic devices were seized.

The youth has been charged with the possession and accessing of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and making, printing, publishing or distributing obscene matter.

The youth was released from custody pending a future court appearance.

The investigation is ongoing.
