
The RCMP in Cape Breton has charged two people after the death of a child in Eskasoni nearly two years ago.
According to police, officers responded to reports of the sudden death of a child at a home in Eskasoni in August 2024, eventuallty handing over the investigation to the major crime unit.
The “complex and lengthy” investigation continued on for nearly two years, as officers laid charges against two people in that case on Wednesday.
A 37-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man are now facing charges including failing to provide the necessities of life and criminal negligence causing death.
The two people were released on conditions by the court, according to the Mounties. They’ll be back in court on June 30.
The RCMP says no further information on the case will be released.
