The three days of Halifax Music Fest will close out by a headline performance from The Killers.
Scheduled to take the stage at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, The Killers will follow acts from three Canadian musicians: Said the Whale, originating in Vancouver; Lights, from Ontario; and ALVVAYS, from P.E.I.
Earlier in the weekend, the festival drew shows from Nickelback, The Glorious Sons, Tenille Townes and Lenny Kravitz.
The grand finale performance from the Las Vegas alternative indie/rock band is expected to draw a large crowd. While tickets have not sold out and official numbers have not been released, pictures and comments from festival goers on social media show that the event has been a huge success.
The success of the Halifax Music Fest draws insight into the municipalities dedication to securing high metrics for tourism performance post-pandemic.
Discover Halifax’s 2024 Annual Report showed the municipality submitted 36 event proposals in 2024, up from 15 in 2023. The municipality also saw a 29 per cent increase in the economic impact of successful bids for grow business events over he same period.
“While we are evolving and embracing change, we are also seeing signs of stability and sustainability. This balance is vital, especially given the ongoing uncertainties in global markets, particularly to the south,” Ross Jefferson, President and CEO of Discover Halifax, said in a press release. “Despite these challenges, we continue to make strategic decisions that fortify our position. Our progress is made possible through collaboration, and we owe much of our success to partners and stakeholders who share our vision.”
