
Halifax Regional Police have charged a 37-year-old man after following up on a weapons complaint on Saturday.
According to police, officers responded to an incident around 1:20 p.m. involving a man who had broken into an apartment building on Washmill Lake Road, pulled a fire alarm and then tried to force himself into one of the units.
An injured resident of the unit was located by officers, who said the suspect tried to get into his unit and threatened him with a knife.
Police say the victim’s injuries were minor and not consistent with stab wounds.
Officers found the suspect inside the victim’s apartment and after resisting arrest, was subdued by officers through use of a taser.
Once placed into custody, he was sent to hospital for assessment.
Police say he now faces several charges including assaulting a police officer, assault with a weapon and resisting arrest, among others.
