A 27-year-old man is facing several charges after police in Dartmouth observed what they believed was a stolen vehicle.

According to Halifax Regional Police, the incident occurred on Sunday around noon when officers saw the vehicle travelling on Burnside Drive near Wright Avenue.

After officers followed the vehicle for a short time, the driver quickly sped away and officers lost sight of it.

Around two hours later, police say officers found the vehicle broken down with a flat tire on Highway 118 and arrested the suspect without incident.

He was scheduled to appear in provincial court on Monday to face flight from police, possession of stolen property and several other charges.
