RCMP in Pictou County are asking for information to help solve a case of vandalism in Trenton.

According to a social media post from Nova Scotia RCMP, an advanced pedestrian warning system on Logan Road, valued at more than $20,000 to install, was significantly damaged.

The Mounties say the system is designed to keep pedestrians safe by alerting drivers when someone is crossing the roadway.

Part of its function is a warning light at the bottom of a hill to alert drivers before they crest it and encounter walkers.

RCMP say they believe damage to the system occurred between June 7 and June 11.

The damage has rendered the warning system unusable with an estimated repair cost of $10,000.
