One man facing 10 charges after shooting in Halifax's north end

Regional police have laid charges against a man in connection with a shooting in the north end on Friday evening.

Shortly before 6 p.m., Halifax Regional Police was informed about an assault involving weapons on Intercolonial Street. Further reports were received that shots had been fired near Kempt Road. All five suspects fled the scene by the time police arrived, but were located and are now in police custody.

One man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Halifax Regional Police, charges have now been laid against Andrew Joseph Dewolfe, 36.

He’s facing a long list of offences including:

  • Possession of a firearm
  • No license/certificate
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Tampering with serial number on firearm
  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death
  • Discharge firearm with intent

Dewolfe was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
