A man has been arrested following an incident with Halifax Regional Police on Saturday.
The HRP says the 30-year-old was taken into custody after an altercation on Gottingen Street, where two officers were in a parking lot of police headquarters.
Just before 7 p.m., they say a vehicle pulled into the parking lot, a female driver jumped out and told the officers the suspect in the passenger seat was intoxicated, in breach of court orders and should be arrested.
After the man got out and moved around into the driver’s seat, officers tried to prevent him from leaving.
Police say he jumped out of the vehicle and assaulted both officers.
The suspect is now facing several charges, including resisting arrest, causing a disturbance, two counts of assaulting police and assault by choking.
He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
