Man carrying rifle in Dartmouth faces several charges

Halifax Regional Police have charged a man after a weapons-related incident early Tuesday in Dartmouth.

According to police, officers were called to the 100 block of Wyse Road around 12:30 a.m., after receiving reports that a man had a rifle in a backpack in the area.

They say when officers arrived, the man ran off, but not before police managed to grab the backpack, which held a pellet rifle.

Police say around 6 a.m., officers located the suspect and took him into custody.

The 28-year-old suspect now faces several charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, failure to comply with conditions of release order and more.
