Home sales in Nova Scotia continued to slow down in March, according to a new monthly report.
Based on the MLS Home Price Index, the figures show that the province saw a drop in home sales this past March from one year ago.
In the Halifax-Dartmouth region, those sales were down nearly 10 per cent since last March.
In a release from the Nova Scotia Association of Realtors, the five-year average for March was down 12 per cent for year-over-year sales and experienced a nearly 20 per cent drop from the 10-year average.
The report also showed a nearly 4 percent drop for the month in new listings across Nova Scotia, while the average price of homes sold increased just 0.2 per cent.
Figures show active residential listings numbered 3,601 units on the market at the end of March, which is a 1.3 per cent jump from March 2025.
In the release, the NSAR points out that “active listings haven’t been this high in the month of March in more than five years.”
According to the report, home sales, on a year-to-date basis, totalled more than 1,860 units over the first three months of 2026, which marks a drop of more than 9 per cent from the same period in 2025.
The dollar value of all home sales in March 2026 was $357.6 million, a decrease of 8.2 per cent from the same month in 2025.
