An East Chester man was arrested in Truro following an assault and robbery in the Halifax area this week.

On June 2, RCMP say officers responded to a call about a suspect who reportedly assaulted a woman at a restaurant on Herring Cove Road before robbing a gas station on Highway 2 in Fall River.

The suspect’s vehicle was caught on video surveillance fleeing the scene, which led the RCMP to request the Truro Police Service be on the lookout for him in the area.

Truro officers say they located the vehicle unoccupied at a local residence just before 9 a.m.

In a social media post, officials say that officers set up containment around the home, and as the suspect tried to flee, he was safely arrested without incident.

A 29-year-old man was set to appear in Truro Provincial Court on Wednesday to face several charges, including robbery, assault and failing to comply with a Probation order.

The assault victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and no on was reportedly hurt at the scene of the robbery.
