
For the second time in as many days, the provincial regulator has invoked the interrupter clause.
The Nova Scotia Energy Board has decided to lower the price of diesel one day after decreasing it by 7.1 cents to 195.1 per litre on Tuesday.
At midnight on Wednesday, the NSEB reset diesel prices to 186.5 cents per litre, which represents a drop of 8.6 cents.
As a result, the price of diesel has decreased by 15.7 cents since Monday.
Ahead of its announcement about Wednesday’s interrupter, the board said the change was necessary due to shifts in global oil prices.
The decision comes as optimism continues that a tentative U.S.-Iran deal will reopen the Strait of Hormuz at the end of the week and get the global flow of oil going again.
The price for a barrel of Brent crude fell 5.1 per cent to settle at US$78.96 on Tuesday.
Gasoline prices were not altered by the NSEB’s decision on Wednesday.
