A man is in hospital in critical condition after a single-vehicle crash in southeast Calgary on Monday afternoon.

Calgary police say a vehicle veered across several lanes of traffic and crashed into bushes near 68 Street and 17 Avenue SE around 2 p.m.

Police say the driver, the only person in the vehicle, was found unconscious and had to be extricated by firefighters before being taken to the Peter Lougheed Centre.

17 Avenue SE is closed in both directions between 68 street and 70 Street SE for the investigation.
