A Red Deer resident is dead, and a woman is badly injured after a Friday night crash between a motorcycle and a truck, according to RCMP.

Mounties say they responded to the incident that happened on 77 Street at Keast Way in Red Deer at around 10 p.m.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 27-year-old from Red Deer, died on the scene. Police say the passenger, a 30-year-old from Springbank, was airlifted to an Edmonton hospital via STARS with serious injuries.

The driver of the truck received minor injuries.

The investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
