A police officer and four others are hurt following a crash in northwest Calgary Wednesday that left a police vehicle flipped onto its side.
Emergency crews were called to the southbound lanes of Crowchild Trail at 24 Avenue NW around 2:45 p.m. for reports of a multi-vehicle collision.
Calgary police say five vehicles were involved, including a Calgary Police Service (CPS) patrol truck. The CPS vehicle was responding to a separate injury collision at the time of the crash.
Images from the scene show the police vehicle flipped onto its side and another badly damaged SUV in the intersection with debris strewn onto the road.

Paramedics say five adults were taken to hospital including one with serious injuries. Calgary police confirmed one of their officers was among the injured.
Police say the injured officer had to be extracted from the vehicle and is in hospital in stable condition.
Crowchild Trail was closed in both directions between 32 Avenue and 5 Avenue NW for several hours. The road reopened around 7 p.m.
