
A man is dead after he was allegedly run over by a stolen taxi at a northern Alberta gas station.
RCMP say the victim was run over by a man who had just stolen the vehicle at a Petro‑Canada on 78 Street in Peace River around 2:23 a.m. Thursday.
Mounties received a call about two hours later when someone found the victim’s body near the pumps at the station.
Security footage shows the suspect entering a red 2005 Dodge Caravan taxi, getting behind the wheel, and then driving over the victim before fleeing, according to investigators.
The stolen taxi has since been recovered. It has white business lettering on the doors and a white taxi light on the roof, bearing Alberta licence plate L98636.


Investigators are asking the public to help identify the suspect and trace the taxi’s movements between 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursday.
The suspect was wearing:
- a black jacket
- blue jeans
- a black T‑shirt with a white design
- black boots
- one grey glove and one black glove
