In this week’s Pause for Pets, we introduce you to a joyful dog looking for a forever home.
But we caution you, it’s not only your heart that needs room to accommodate this two-year-old canine. That’s because Dolly is a big girl, weighing in at nearly 53 kgs.
Dolly is a Great Pyrenees mix, with an emphasis on ‘great’.
She has a reputation for being lovable and loyal with a soft coat and soulful eyes. And although she can be a little independent and stubborn at times, the folks at the city, where she has been staying since early January, say it simply adds to her charm.
Dolly is a professional protector who calmly stands her ground to back her pack when required, and she does some cuddle-duty gig work, too. When she’s not working, she loves bonding with her people. Personal space is just a suggestion for Dolly, who likes to lean in, linger about or snuggle up.
She’s essentially a gentle giant, with tonnes of fur. And yes, pampering is a favourite pastime for this pooch, especially when it means a visit to the salon for a brushing and a blow-out.
Dolly loves to swim and sniff about, and is more than happy to share space with cats and dogs. Full disclosure, she’s on a diet to keep her weight down and will likely need to stay on top of that for life. Regular exercise is essential, along with brain-building activities.
Call 311 for more information and ask about Dolly by name or her tracking ID A0940786.
Harlow, the pitbull mix, we told you about last week is currently bunking with Dolly and all the other dogs and cats at the city shelter … all waiting for a permanent home.
