A set of bronze plaques have reportedly been stolen from the historic family home of professional wrestling superstars Bret and Owen Hart.

Brooke Hart-Minnema, granddaughter of family patriarch Stu Hart, tells CityNews the southwest Calgary home was broken into while the owners were away on vacation.

Now, both the owners and the family are desperate to get stolen property back.

“My grandfather made bronze brass plaques that sit at the Hart House front entranceway,” says Hart-Minnema. “There was four of them.”

She says the plaques that were located on four pillars are part of her grandfather’s legacy and are irreplaceable.

“When Dave Bronconnier made the home a heritage home, they were part of a heritage society piece that left a little bit of Stu in the house,” she says. “They’re the last piece of him at the house.”

She says two of the plaques read Foothills Athletic Club with pictures of wrestlers, while the other two have Hart House inscribed on them.

The heritage building was built in 1905 and purchased by Stu and Helen Hart in 1951. It served as the family home and training ground for the Hart wrestling dynasty for decades.

The family is asking anyone with information on the missing plaques to reach out to Calgary police.
