The ex-boyfriend of a woman who was fatally shot in a Calgary parkade over the weekend has been charged with first-degree murder.

Emergency crews were called to the parking garage at 8710 Horton Road SW around 4:30 p.m. Saturday for reports of gunshots.

Upon arrival, Calgary police say officers found a woman who had been shot. First responders performed live-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have since identified the victim as 23-year-old Madisson Cobb.

In an update late Monday, police said tips from the public led to officers recovering a white Toyota RAV4 on Sunday that was believed to be connected to the shooting.

The next day, officers arrested a man at the Super 8 motel on Macleod Trail near 75 Avenue SW.

Calgary police say 26-year-old Devon Bradley Malik has been charged with first-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Investigators are confirming that Malik and Cobb were in a relationship that ended in early 2025. Cobb reportedly got a restraining order against Malik in June and outlined to the court in an affidavit that she believed he had a gun.

Police have said the shooting was targeted and they are no longer looking for any suspects.
