Mounties are asking for help in their investigation after a Calgary teen was found dead in a car in southern Alberta last week.

RCMP say officers found an abandoned car with a body inside about 1.5 kilometres west of the town of Glenwood, 30 kilometres northwest of Cardston, on July 4.

The remains have been identified as 16-year-old Calgary resident Jordyn “Rylie” Dines and investigators have deemed the death suspicious. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.

Police say Dines was last seen around 2:45 p.m. at Chinook Center mall in Calgary on July 3, the day before her body was found.

The car she was found in is described as a teal coloured 2009 Toyota Camry with black steel rims. The vehicle had not been reported stolen but the owner reported it missing on the morning of July 4.

RCMP have released photos of Dines and the car and are asking for help determining what happened between when she was last seen and when her body was discovered.
