An aggressive blaze was kept to just one house in Calgary’s northeast Monday, thanks to the efforts of firefighters.
Multiple calls were made to 911 around 5:10 p.m. reporting a house on fire in Taradale.
When crews arrived to the home on Taradale Drive, they found a two-story detached single-family home on fire with large flames and smoke coming from the back of the house and quickly spreading to the roof.
Nearby homes were evacuated while firefighters hooked up multiple hoses to fire hydrants to fight the flames from the outside.
The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) also set up a ladder/tower truck to get more water to the roof.
Efforts from firefighters brought the blaze under control which allowed them to go inside and check for occupants.
CFD determined everyone was safely evacuated and accounted for.
One man was left with minor burns and was assessed, treated, and transported by EMS.
The house where the fire started was left with severe damage.
An investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing.
