A teen is dead after a single-vehicle collision on Stoney Trail in southwest Calgary Friday night.
City police say it happened just before 10 p.m. on Stoney Trail SW and 69 Street.
They say the vehicle went up in flames and remained on fire as emergency services tended to the scene.
Officers tell 660 NewsRadio that speed is being investigated as a factor.
In a Monday update, police confirmed the victim was a 16-year-old boy. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle, a 2014 sedan.
Lanes to Stoney Trail SW, along with access to Stoney between Bow Trail and Sarcee Trail, were closed down for their investigation.
Police reopened the area just before 6 a.m. on Saturday.
