A man is being accused of robbing a northeast Calgary casino while wearing a medical mask and saying he was armed, police say.

Police say a man walked into Pure Casino Calgary on 1420 Meridian Road on May 25 at around 11 p.m.

They say he walked up to the cash counter and demanded cash, while also telling the teller he was armed.

Officers then say he fled in a stolen vehicle with an “undisclosed amount of cash.” Employees called the police afterward.

Due to an “anonymous tip,” investigators were able to identify the suspect, leading to charges being placed on 32-year-old Tomy Loranger on July 15.

He faces two counts of robbery, one count of wearing a disguise to commit an offence, and another for possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Loranger is expected to appear in court on July 30.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
